IDB approved $30 million loan to improve young people employability in seven regions of Peru.

Minister Maurate pointed that benefited regions will be Arequipa, Ica, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Piura, San Martín and Lima Metropolitana. :: Published 01/07/2016

(Lima, June 24th, 2016).- A total of US30 million have been approved by the Inter-American Development  Bank (IDB) with a view to finance the project “Improvement and expansion of the Employment Center services for youth labor insertion in Arequipa, Ica, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Piura, San Martín and Lima Metropolitana” announced the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion.

The Minister highlighted that tools to identify deficiencies on youth employability will be developed, to diversify and improve the opportunity, quality and relevance of the training that are offered by the Employment Center and to strengthen the counseling service for job search.El financiamiento también permitirá mejorar la articulación con el sector productivo; es decir, que un mayor número de empresas se conviertan en usuarias del servicio de acercamiento empresarial, de modo que el Centro de Empleo sea el medio por el cual contraten más trabajadores.

The financing will allow to improve articulation with the productive sector, which means a major number of companies that become users of business service approach, so that the Employment Center is the  intermediate  to hire more workers.

 “In order to achieve this, we have to improve the operational processes of the Employment Center and the MTPE’s ruler capacity within regional governments, who, finally in the future will be in charge to administrate their Employment Center”, Maurate said.

Likewise, he commented that the technical assistant will be provided by Korea, a country that has good practices of employment services.

As we know IDB is the principal source of multilateral funding and an important partner for Peru development. The IDB strategy is oriented to close the economic and social gaps in urbans and rural areas, helping to increase productivity  as a base for inclusive and sustained growth.
