Contest “Undertake with remittances” delivered more than one million soles to Peruvian returnees.

The ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion delivered between the 2014 and 2016, a total of one million 191 thousand soles in seed capital to 397 returnees and family of peruvians in the exterior of Lima, La Libertad, Arequipa, Huancayo, Lambayeque, Ancash, Loreto and Piura, through contest of business plans “Undertake with remittances” reported the minister Alfonso Grados Carraro.

During the launch of the third edition of the Week for Migrants “Peru with you,” Grados Carraro said that the amount was delivered in capital goods related businesses (3,000 soles each). In addition, 730 people from those regions that received technical assistance and advice for the creation and implementation of their projects.

 “From MTPE, we are also joining forces so that the decision to migrate be an option and not a necessity, promoting the employment, employability and the entrepreneurship, as well as to ensure by the protection of the labor rights of all the workers, without distinction of its nationality and origin”, said.

The owner of MTPE noted that the “Undertake with remittances” runs through Impulsa Peru program to promote self-employment with the productive use of savings of returnees and remittances received by the families of our citizens abroad.

Also, exists the Advice Service for the Migrant (SOM in Spanish) in the Employment Center and the web page www.trabajo.gob.pe. It contains information and orientation over the migration process.

MTPE participates since 2011 in the Intersectorial Work Table for the Migration Management. It is a Multisectorial Commission of permanent nature ascribed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has as its object coordinate, evaluate, propose, prioritize and supervise the policies and actions related to the migration integral management.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INEI), 2 millions 675 thousand 791 Peruvians emigrated between 1990 and 2013. They are distributed in three continental blocks: South America (40.3%) North and Center of America (30.2%) and Europe (25.6%). On the other hand, EE.UU, Argentina, Chile, España and Italia are the five principal countries of destination of the Peruvian emigration.

The third edition of the Week of the Migrant “Perú contigo” is organized by the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Organization for Migration in order to impulse the rapprochement.

It should be remembered that 18 October, the “Day of the Peruvian Migrant”, was established by Supreme Decree N° 060-2006-RE.
