MTPE approves training plan for recyclers of Lima, Arequipa, Iquitos, Piura and Trujillo

In a first stage, it will benefit to 600 recyclers :: Published 01/06/2016

(Lima, May 22th, 2016).- The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion has begun an action plan to train recyclers with the aim to give welfare and quality of life to this population from Lima, Arequipa, Trujillo, Piura and Iquitos, protecting the environment and promoting the labor formalization.

600 recyclers will participate in three training modules: development of socio-emotional skills, solid waste management, safety and health, and business management and business plan development.

Applicants must have some requirements such as to have more than 18 years old, minimum experience of two years as recyclers, be member of a recycling organization, work 24 hours or more in a week, attend the trainings,  participate in this activity in the next two years.

Also, the beneficiaries that receive training in entrepreneurship will have to fulfill an entrepreneurial profile, a recycling business idea or have a recycling business, have between 25 to 55 years old, and secondary educational level.

“Impulsa Peru” will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and supervision of action plan.

There are more than 108 thousands recycling families in the country. Also, more than 43 thousand are in Lima and 86.57% of recyclers are in extreme poverty. Only 4.3% the recyclers work in an organized way through recyclers associations and micro-enterprises.
