MTPE fulfilled with the employment quota of 5% for disabled people

Minister Maurate reported about the hiring of six disabled people in the next days :: Published 21/07/2016

(Lima, July 19th, 2016).- The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion became the first public institution that fulfilled with the employment quota for disabled people (5%) in order to promote the employability of this population.

MTPE registers 54 disabled people of 998 total employees of different labor regimes, who are working in various administrative areas.

In this regard, the minister Daniel Maurate Romero said that this number of workers represents 5.41%, amount that exceeds the limit required by law.

 “This number will increase because six disable people won job positions through public tenders, and they will sign contracts in the next days”, he said.

The disabled people who work at MTPE are registered in CONADIS, and they have been qualified in personal and technical skills according to their types of disabilities: visual, physical, hearing loss and deafness, Down syndrome and short stature.

These people will receive an induction program and follow-up through Department for Disabled People of MTPE to facilitate their proper integration into labor world.

The General Law on Persons with Disabilities decrees that all public entities must to hire disabled people not less 5% of the total staff. The quota in private enterprises is 3%.

For fulfilling this Law, MTPE established implementation measures in the private sector which allow to these people develop their jobs in equal conditions that any other worker.
