Lima, April 28th, 2016.- International experts and specialists of Ministry of Labor were met today during the World Day for Safety and Health at Work to promote a prevention culture that minimizes risks at workplaces.
During, the national congress “Safety and health at Work: Building a culture of prevention, specialists exchanged experiences to articulate roles and responsibilities among State, employers and workers, and raise awareness about life and health protection at institutions and companies.
The topics were oriented to public policies such as international labor conventions on safety and health, and advances in the implementation of safety and health at work in Andean countries.
Also, they developed issues related to the implementation of safety and health at work on economic sectors, prevention at workplaces, labor inspection and the labor risk prevention, among others.
Protection for workers
In Peru, the State emphasizes the worker protection against occupational accidents and diseases, considered as the main objectives of International Labor Organization (ILO).
The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion according with its competences is responsible that safety and work have relation with a labor activity.
The National Council of Safety and Health at Work is the highest instance of dialogue in safety and health at work conformed by employers and trade unions.
The World Day for Safety and Health at Work was declared by the United Nations General Assembly each 28th April with the objective to develop an international campaign to promote a safe, healthy and decent job.
