(Lima, June 17th, 2016).- The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion declared to Semilla Project as project aimed at strengthening public policies of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Eradication of Child Labor (ENPETI in Spanish).
This project will report advances monthly to MTPE and the National Steering Committee for the Prevention and Eradication of Child Labor.
The ENPETI articulates and consolidates the labor of entities of public sector respect to prevention and eradication of child labor, and it considers the design, implementation and assessment of ENPETI pilot experiences, including Semilla Project implemented in rural areas of Huancavelica, Junín and Pasco.
This project was implemented in rural areas, to prove its effectiveness to reduce the child labor in agriculture.
Also, it combines attention and prevention of educational issues of children and teenagers under 18 years of age and productivity improvement of their families and teenagers. It considers an awareness strategy that families know risks and decide to withdraw their children from hazardous work.
The project, in its component of policy public, validates education and production programs for the prevention and eradication of child labor at local level to contribute to the construction of local policies with national projection.
Semilla Project is in a second stage of implementation according to the major ILO child labour Conventions, Nos. 138 and 182, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child about minimum age and the worst forms of child labor. It is important to ensure the continuity of the experience of public policies generation with technical assessment.
