(Lima, July 21st, 2016).- The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE in Spanish) and regional governments of Arequipa, Ica, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Piura, San Martín and Lima Metropolitana have signed interinstitutional cooperation agreements in order to extend services of the Employment Center to improve youth employability in these regions.
The minister Maurate highlights that the agreements have been signed in terms of IADB loan approved for a US$30 million to finance the project which seeks to develop tools to identify lacks in youth employability, to improve the quality and pertinence of training provided by the Employment Center, and to strengthen job search counseling.
“It is the first time that IADB gives a loan to invest in human capital. This financing will improve the articulation with the productive sector, it means a greater number of companies will use the entrepreneurial approach services, so that the Employment Center be the platform to hire workers”, he said.
“To achieve this goal, it is important to improve the operating processes of Employment Center with the regional governments, which will be responsible to administrate their Employment Center in the future”, he emphasizes.
The IADB is Peru’s main multilateral lender and a front-line partner in the country’s development. The IADB’s strategy in the country aims to help close the economic and social gaps that exist between urban and rural areas, and support productivity gains as a basis for inclusive, sustainable economic growth.
