The minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Alfonso Grados said that his sector will resume a democratic and social roundtable with the General Confederation of Workers from Peru (CGTP in Spanish).
“This reactivation will do anyway and I guarantee it will be from now”, said Grados Carraro after a meeting with labor union leaders, who gave him their labor agenda.
He said there are similarities with the CGTP in several points discussed in the meeting, and also some discrepancies which have to be worked together to achieve that Peru becomes a country with better jobs for its citizens.
In this regard, the minister Alfonso Grados said that his sector will emphasize that young people access to formal labor market in best conditions.
He mentioned that decent and productive employment will be protected and promoted as a guideline of national development, which implies respect for labor and union rights, the protection of the most vulnerable workers as well as the fight against child labor and employment discrimination.
He added that MTPE will relaunch the National Council of Labor and Employment Promotion (CNTPE in Spanish) as an essential forum for social dialogue between workers, entrepreneurs and the sector.
Minimum wage
About minimun wage, the minister Grados emphasized that the National Council of Labor and Employment Promotion will be the responsible body for technical and not politically decision about the appropriate level of increase.
Also, he said that there is a willingness that the minimum wage improves gradually, but it has to work technically and with support of CNTPE.
