In order to release the Service of Vocational Orientation and Occupational Information and the benefits that offer “Ponte en Carrera” web to students and young people of Lima Metropolitana, the viceminister of Employment Promotion and Labor Training, Jaime Obreros Charún visited Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre School at Ate Vitarte district.
He pointed that Sovio has benefited 240,668 young people from August 2011 till June of this year, in 26 regions of the country.
Likewise, between 2011 and 2015, only in Lima Metropolitana, 43,663 young people were evaluated vocationally.
“Through the Employment Center, we give to young people this service: Sovio, whose purpose is to promote the building of a life project and educational election, contributing to career labor training”, underlined.
Sovio promotes the software applications that help the vocational orientation of young people as ELIGE Test, Vocational Forum and Life Project, mentioned viceminister Obreros
Personal conditions are also evaluated, with the support of psychological tests that measure basic skills, personal characteristics and business potential.
Also, SOVIO gives advice (respect to vocational profile and available training options) information about labor market and demand occupations.
“Ponte en Carrera” keeps expanding
On the other hand, the viceminister Obreros reported that since creation of “Ponte en Carrera” web (July 2015) up to now, 354,609 users had been registered.
“Ponte en Carrera” collect required information for students and parents to compare university and technical careers with the labor demand. In Peru, 6 of each 10 young professionals are inadequately occupied, in other words, they work in an occupation that is not consistent with their educational level.
According to data web, the university careers with higher average incomes area: Civil Engineering (S/ 4,109) and Geology (S/3,980), while the technical careers that offer higher average incomes are technical in Architecture and Urban Planning (S/ 3,093) and technical in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy and Petroleum (S/ 3,077).
