Government gives facilities to polling station staff and electors in runoff election

Monday, June 6th will be a compensable a non-working day for polling station staff :: Published 26/05/2016

(Lima, May 19th, 2016).- The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion published today in “The Peruvian” newspaper, the Supreme Decree N° 007-2016-TR which gives facilities to polling station staff and electors for General Elections 2016 on June 5th.

This day will be a compensable non-working day for citizens who will be polling station staff; so, the public and private employers must adopt appropriate measures to fulfill this indication.

During the Election Day the National Office of Electoral Processes will give to each polling station staff a certificate for their civic participation and it can be presented to their employers to the next work day.

The public and private workers that work in different places of their polling stations will not work on June 3th, 4th, 5th, 6th.

In the private sector, the employer and worker will have an agreement to recover the non-working days. In the public sector, entities holders will adopt necessary measures to guarantee adequate provision of services and recovery of non-working days.

Finally, the polling station staff who work during Election Day are authorized for not going to their workplaces.
