Maurate: We must strengthen the education to improve young people´s employability

Arequipa, May 8th, 2016.- The minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Daniel Maurate, asked to strengthen the education f to improve young people´s employability during the opening of the Plenary Session of APEC Human Resources Development Working Group, in Arequipa.

“We have to improve our educational system to find spaces of labor development for children and young people”, said in his presentation.

He considered important to make employable to young people according to the labor demand. “One of the matters in Peru is that the majority of young people study saturated careers in the labor market rather than careers related to the science, technology and research”, noted.

In the same line, the minister emphasized that the sector, through the Jóvenes Productivos Program is working to increase young people´s employability, especially of low-income people and offers training for labor insertion and entrepreneurship.

He also highlighted that Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion offers services to young people for helping them to take a good decision about their professional future. “We have, in the Ministry, our web platforms Service of Vocational Orientation and Occupational Information (Sovio) and Ponte Carrera for students”, he pointed out. 

He said that ‘Ponte en Carrera’ is an important tool for young people, and they can use it to obtain information about the best remunerated career in the market.
