In order to prevent the risks in regard to the safety and health at work of municipal workers, that develop gardening activities, public cleaning and citizen security, the ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion set up a working table to develop a proposed regulation in favor of these workers.
The minister, Alfonso Grados pointed that his management will strengthen the identification of human groups than require a special care and attention as municipal workers.
“We will work hard for this regulation that will design with yours, to be a tool that boost your work and peace”, added.
The working table includes representatives of National Federation of Municipal Workers of Perú and the General Directorate of Fundamental Rights and Security and Health at work of MTPE, who will collect prospects of these workers, respect to risks and other issues of their labors.
According to National Municipalities Register 2015 – INEI main results, as at December 31th, 2014; 211,042 workers were registered in the municipalities of the country, which 87,641 are janitors, guards and others, that represents 41.5% of the total.
It should be noted that janitors, parks and gardens are exposed to different hazards and risks relative to waste solids management, contamination with biological agents, physical hazards, disergonómicos risks, solar radiation, among others.
