MTPE and The National Society of Industries – SNI will promote jobs for disabled people in the industrial sector

The demand of vacancies and colocations in the companies have been increased. :: Published 21/06/2016

(Lima, June 13th, 2016).- In order to promote labor market inclusion of people with disabilities the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion and SNI  subscribed a cooperation agreement that will provide more jobs opportunities to this vulnerable population.

Minister Maurate explained that this new agreement aims to incorporate in the companies of the industrial sector several mechanisms and actions to enable  employment, labor insertion and sustainability in labor market of persons with disabilities.

 “We have to progressively get rid of stereotypes, myths or prejudice that act as obstacles for their inclusion into the job market”, said.

The Minister Maurate Romero added that it is intended that these companies fulfill their legal obligations, properly using the MTPE’s public services  provided by the Employment Center, Maurate added. Minister Maurate highlighted that the SNI will develope an anual survey that will identify the actual situation and advances of the industrial companies in disability managment.

MInister Maurate and SNI President, Andreas Von Wedemeyer subscribed this agreement in the opening of the “Services meeting for disability management in the companies”, which was joined by entrepreneurs of this trade union with the intention of receiving information about the employment rate for people with disabilities (3% for the private sector with 50 or more workers), the audit procedures and sanction, the tax benefits, among others.

Demand has increased.

According tho MTPEs data, the employment vacancies for disabled people offered by the employers through the Employment Centers of Lima, has increased nearly over 18 times in the first four months of the year, compared with the same period on 2015.

348 job offer were registrared from January to April and while there were only 75 vacancies during 2015 on the similar period of time.

According The National Survey Specialized on Disability carried on 2012, there are 594,319 people with disabilities on working age, those of whose 113,074 are the economically active population (97, 580 are working and 15,434 are not working).

In Lima there are 147,978 thousand of formal private companies, 4, 818 of these with 50 or more workers, according to MTPE’s spreadsheet.
