MTPE fosters recruitment of disabled people in Ica

Ica, May 10th, 2016.- The viceminister of Employment Promotion and Labor Training, Nicanor Boluarte Zegarra, asked to entrepreneurs from Ica Region to recruit more vulnerable people and fulfill the employment quota established by the government.

 “The challenge is to treat disabled people as any worker, without any kind of prejudice, and recognize its skills and talents for developing a productive activity”, he pointed out.

Boluarte participated in a business meeting called “Services for disability management in company” in Ica Region where the entrepreneurs were informed about employment quota regulation, procedures for disability certification, tax benefits, among others.

This project has been implemented since September 2015 where the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion has strengthened the service of the labor exchange of Employment Center of Ica considering specialized information to know employers demand.

Since this year, according the law, private companies with more than 50 workers must fulfill the employment quota, no less than 3% of payroll for disabled people. The quota in the public sector is 5%.

The “Services for disability management in company” also was carried out in Chiclayo, Arequipa, Piura, Lima and Trujillo.

There are 38,672 disabled people in age to work in Ica, according to ENEDIS-2012.

Free training for disabled people

The viceminister Boluarte Zegarra reported that Impulsa Peru Program will offer free training for 70 disabled people of Ica in trades such as agroindustrial operator and textile manufacturing.

During this government, this program has achieved to benefit 2,622 people with an investment of more than 3.5 millions of soles in the region.

Impulsa Peru is a program of the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion that develops actions to promote employment and improves labor competences through training of unemployed and underemployed people of the economically active population.
